THE BLOSSOMING BODY
Hand-dyed and handwoven nylon monofilament, high-twist silk, shibori, stretch mesh fabric
Inspired by the vivid colours and organic forms of flowers, flat handwoven cloth is transformed into three-dimensional sculptures which grow from the body, through the use of doublecloth, high-twist yarn and heat-set shibori. The woven fabric is draped intuitively, sculpted around the human form, which is proudly displayed through the transparent areas of the cloth, encouraging the wearer not to hide their body. Each garment comes alive as the wearer moves. Iridescent colours change and delicate panels of weaving sway to create a performance that draws attention to and celebrates the body. Eye-catching colours and whimsical silhouettes help to create a series of garments that uplift and evoke joy in the wearer.
