PRISM
As light passes through a prism, my work allows light to pass through space.
For this project I explored methods of capturing light and found inspiration through the sudden strike of colour bursting through the monotone architectural appearance of a glass prism. This series of experimental, structural samples, mixes transparent and opaque layers, echoing the appearance of light passing through a prism. These sculptural woven textiles incorporate mixtures of transparent, reflective nylon monofilament fibres combined with the opacity of luscious hand-dyed silk. As screens and room dividers, featuring experimentation with doublecloth, exaggerated pleats and floating threads, these pieces are intended to separate space and invite people to move through it, guiding them to move through the room.
